About Montia parvifolia (Moc. ex DC.) Greene

Montia parvifolia (Moc. ex DC.) Greene is a perennial herb. It grows erect to about 40 centimeters (16 inches) tall, growing from a matted, branching caudex base. It spreads through leafy stolons that produce sprouting bulblets. Its fleshy, oval leaves are alternately arranged in a rosette, and can reach up to 6 centimeters (2.4 inches) in length. Flower stalks called peduncles grow from the base of the leaf rosette. The inflorescence at the tip of the stem holds 1 to 12 flowers. Each flower has five pink or white petals that grow up to 1.5 centimeters (0.59 inches) long.
