This species is a marine gastropod snail with the scientific name Monoplex nicobaricus (Röding, 1798). The maximum recorded length of its shell is 90 millimeters. It has a wide distribution across the Indo-Pacific and Western Atlantic oceans. Confirmed regions where it occurs include Aldabra, Brazil, the Canary Islands, Cape Verde, the Chagos Archipelago, Costa Rica, European waters, Florida, the Gulf of Mexico, the Mascarene Basin, and the West Indies. Its habitat ranges from the ocean surface down to a maximum recorded depth of 36 meters (118 feet).
