About Monolopia congdonii (A.Gray) B.G.Baldwin
Monolopia congdonii (A.Gray) B.G.Baldwin is a small annual herb. It has a trailing or somewhat upright stem covered in a thin layer of woolly fibers. Its leaves grow up to roughly 4 centimeters long and have wavy edges. Inflorescences at the tips of stem branches hold small, hemispheric flower heads. Each flower head is enclosed by phyllaries that bear black glandular hairs, and the center of the head consists of glandular yellow disc florets. The species also produces yellow ray florets, but these are so small that they are almost invisible. Individual ray florets measure about half a millimeter long, and have a minutely lobed tip.
