Monacha cartusiana (O.F.Müller, 1774) is a species of small air-breathing land snail. It is a terrestrial eupulmonate gastropod mollusc that belongs to the family Hygromiidae, which includes hairy snails and their allies. It is the type species of the genus Monacha. The species is native to the Atlantic-Mediterranean region. It occurs in a range of areas including Great Britain and Ukraine. It was fully protected in the United Kingdom under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 from 1981 to 1988. This species has been accidentally introduced and become naturalized in Newcastle County, Delaware, United States. The eggs of this snail measure 1.8 mm in size.
