Mompha idaei is a moth species that belongs to the family Momphidae. It was first formally described by Philipp Christoph Zeller in 1839. This species has a Holarctic geographic distribution. Within North America, it occurs across the boreal forest from coast to coast, ranging south as far as the U.S. states of Colorado and Washington. The wingspan of adult Mompha idaei measures 18 to 22 mm. Adult moths are active and can be found in flight from May through July. The larvae of this moth species develop and live in the roots of two plant species: Epilobium angustifolium and Epilobium latifolium.
