About Mniotype satura (Denis & Schiffermüller), 1775
Scientific name: Mniotype satura (Denis & Schiffermüller), 1775. Technical description and variation: C. satura Schiff. (= porphyrea Esp.) (32 b). This species has shorter and broader wings than Mniotype melanodonta (Hampson, 1906). Its forewings are entirely dull reddish, but this color is more or less obscured by a purplish black suffusion; the upper stigmata, basal patch, submarginal area, and subterminal line are all dull reddish. The wedge-shaped marks located before the subterminal line are much shorter and less conspicuous than those of Mniotype melanodonta. Other features match those of Mniotype melanodonta. The hindwing is dark brownish-fuscous, with a visible cellspot and a faint marked outer line; it has a pale terminal streak at the anal angle. The larva is reddish brown, with darker coloration along its dorsum. Its dorsal line is interrupted and obscure; the spiracular area is yellowish green. It has an obscure subdorsal row of oblique grey streaks. The wingspan of Mniotype satura is 40–50 mm.
