About Mitellastra caulescens (Nutt.) Howell
Mitellastra caulescens, commonly known as slightstemmed miterwort, star-shaped mitrewort, leafy miterwort, or creeping miterwort, is a herbaceous perennial flowering plant belonging to the family Saxifragaceae. It is the only species classified in the genus Mitellastra. This plant is native to western North America, and its range includes British Columbia, California, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, and Washington. Within California, it is restricted to the northwestern region of the state, where it occurs along the North Coast, in the Klamath Mountains, and in the outer and high Northern Coast Ranges. It grows in wet, shady locations.
