Along with Miomantis abyssinica, it is one of several species that are sometimes referred to as the Egyptian praying mantis. This species occurs across multiple African countries: Egypt, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Uganda, Senegal, and Togo. It is also found in Israel, which is located in the Middle East. Adult individuals of this species reach a size of 3.5 to 4.5 cm.
