Minettia longipennis (Fabricius, 1794) is a species of fly belonging to the family Lauxaniidae. This species is found in the Palearctic realm. Adult Minettia longipennis measure between 3 and 4.5 mm in length. They have a rounded body shape, a shiny black thorax, and long wings with an orange tint; these wings are sometimes held horizontally when at rest. This fly inhabits hedgerows and wooded areas. Adult Minettia longipennis are active from May to September, with the highest population peak occurring in June. The larvae of this species feed on fungi that grow on dead leaves.
