About Microtus oeconomus (Pallas, 1776)

The tundra vole, scientifically named Microtus oeconomus (Pallas, 1776), has short ears and a short tail. Its fur is yellowish brown, with paler fur on its sides and white fur on its underparts. Adults are typically around 18 cm (7.1 in) in total length, with a 4 cm (1.6 in) tail, and weigh approximately 50 grams (1.8 oz). This species shows sexual dimorphism: adult males are noticeably larger than adult females. Tundra voles live in damp tundra or moist meadows, most often near water.
