Microthyris prolongalis is a moth species that belongs to the Crambidae family. It was first described by Achille Guenée in 1854. This species can be found in Brazil, the West Indies – including Jamaica, the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, and Cuba – as well as Costa Rica, Panama, Belize, Honduras, Mexico, and the U.S. states of Texas and Florida. It has a wingspan of approximately 33 mm. In Florida, adult individuals of this species are active during the months of June, October, and December. Its larvae are known to feed on plant species belonging to the Ipomoea genus.
