About Microsphecia tineiformis (Esper, 1789)

Microsphecia tineiformis is a moth species that belongs to the family Sesiidae. This species is native to southern Europe. It has also been documented in Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Asia Minor, Armenia, and the region stretching from Azerbaijan to northern Iran and northern Iraq. The wingspan of adult Microsphecia tineiformis measures approximately 11 mm. The larvae of this moth feed on plants in the genus Convolvulus, including the species Convolvulus boissieri. It is possible that the larvae also feed on Echium vulgare and Echium violaceum.
