About Microseris lindleyi (DC.) A.Gray
Uropappus, commonly known as silverpuffs, is a genus of North American plants in the tribe Cichorieae of the family Asteraceae. Some authors recognize only one species in this genus, U. lindleyi, and place other species into the separate genus Stebbinsoseris. The species currently treated as belonging to Uropappus are: Uropappus kellogii Greene, found in California, Arizona, and Baja California; Uropappus lindleyi (DC.) Nutt., found in British Columbia, Canada, and Washington, Oregon, California, Nevada, Idaho, Utah, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, and South Carolina in the United States; and Uropappus pruinosus Greene, found in New Mexico. A number of names previously included in Uropappus have been reclassified: Uropappus clevelandii, Uropappus heterocarpus, Uropappus kelloggii, and Uropappus leucocarpus are all now classified as Microseris heterocarpa. The scientific name Microseris lindleyi (DC.) A.Gray is a synonym for Uropappus lindleyi.
