Micropterix schaefferi is a species of moth in the Micropterigidae family. It was first described by John Heath in 1975. The wingspan of male individuals of this species ranges from 3.8 to 5.1 millimetres (0.15 to 0.20 inches), while female individuals have a wingspan between 4.7 and 5.8 millimetres (0.19 to 0.23 inches). This moth species is recorded from France, Corsica, Italy, Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Denmark, and Poland. It lives in woodlands that contain large numbers of beech and coniferous trees, and it can also be found in moist ravine forests and dry pine forests.
