About Micropeza corrigiolata (Linnaeus, 1767)
Micropeza corrigiolata, first described by Linnaeus in 1767, reaches a body length of 4 to 7 millimetres (0.16 to 0.28 inches). These are small, slender flies with a deep black body, a bullet-shaped head, reddish eyes, and stilt-like legs. Their abdomen is long and slender, and the abdominal tergites have narrow yellow edges. The antennae are black, the tibiae bear short bristles, and the wings are clear. This species occurs across most of Europe, the Near East, and the Nearctic realm. It primarily inhabits meadows, fields, bushes, areas with leguminous plants, sparse vegetation, and the margins of sandy beaches.
