About Microlophus grayii (Bell, 1843)

Microlophus grayii (first described by Bell in 1843) is a species of lava lizard in the family Tropiduridae. It has three common names: Floreana lava lizard, Gray's lava lizard, and Gray's Pacific iguana. This species is endemic to Floreana, one of the Galapagos Islands of Ecuador. Its geographic range covers Floreana Island, as well as its associated small islets Champion and Gardner. The preferred natural habitat of Microlophus grayii is shrubland, found at altitudes between sea level and 640 meters (2,100 feet). Individuals have also been observed living in urban areas.
