About Microhyla pulchra (Hallowell, 1861)

Microhyla pulchra (Hallowell, 1861) is a species of narrow-mouthed frog. It is found in northeastern India, southern China, and Southeast Asia, reaching south to at least Thailand, and possibly as far south as Malaysia and Singapore. This species has also been introduced to Guam. It has multiple common names: beautiful pygmy frog, Guangdong rice frog, and marbled pygmy frog. Microhyla pulchra is a common species in habitats that suit it, but it is not often encountered due to its cryptic nature and seasonal activity patterns. It typically lives near forest edges. People eat this frog in Laos.
