About Microhyla achatina Tschudi, 1838

Microhyla achatina is a small frog species with a narrow head. It has small eyes, and the digits on its feet are only partially webbed. Males have a snout-to-vent length of approximately 2 cm (0.8 in), while females are slightly larger than males. Its dorsal side is yellowish brown, marked with two dark stripes, a symmetric arrow-shaped mark, and sometimes a narrow pale line running along the spine. The sides of its body are dark. This frog inhabits primary and secondary forests, and is sometimes found near human developments including paddy fields and forest gardens. It occurs at altitudes up to 1,200 metres (3,900 ft) above sea level. This species is endemic to the Indonesian island of Java, and is only found in the central and western regions of the island.
