About Micranthes odontoloma (Piper) A.Heller
Micranthes odontoloma, commonly called brook saxifrage, is a species of flowering plant. It is native to most of western North America, where it grows in many types of moist, rocky habitats. It is a perennial herb that grows a clump of leaves; each leaf blade is rounded with toothed or scalloped edges and grows on a long, thin petiole. A branching inflorescence emerges from a slender, erect peduncle that can reach up to half a meter tall, and bears many flowers. Each flower has five teardrop-shaped white petals with threadlike bases, plus stamens with flat, narrow filaments that sometimes look like extra petals. The leaves of this plant are edible, and cooking them reduces their toughness.
