About Miconia bicolor (Mill.) Triana
Miconia bicolor (Mill.) Triana is a multi-trunked shrub that grows to a height between 3 and 9 meters, or 9.8 to 29.5 feet. Its stems can be green or reddish in color. This species bears evergreen lanceolate leaves, which are 10 to 20 cm (3.9 to 7.9 in) long, with three prominent parallel veins that run along the length of each leaf. The plant flowers during the spring and summer seasons. Its flowers are white or pinkish, and it produces oval-shaped brown fruit that attracts birds. Miconia bicolor grows in the subtropical wetlands of the Everglades. It prefers partial shade, and can grow in acidic, alkaline, sand, loam, and clay soils. It has a high tolerance for drought, and grows well in well-drained soils.
