About Metriotes lutarea (Haworth, 1828)

Metriotes lutarea is a moth species classified in the family Coleophoridae. This species is distributed across most of Europe, excluding the Iberian Peninsula and the majority of the Balkan Peninsula, and it is also found in Turkey. The wingspan of adult Metriotes lutarea ranges from 9 to 11 millimeters, or 0.35 to 0.43 inches. Adult moths are active during the day and fly in the month of May. The larvae of Metriotes lutarea feed on the seeds of two plant species: greater stitchwort (Stellaria holostea) and Thesium montanum.
