Metellina merianae is a spider species that belongs to the family Tetragnathidae, commonly known as long-jawed orb weavers. Its native range extends from Europe through to Central Asia. This species most often lives at cave entrances, though individuals can also be found in animal burrows and inside hollow trees. The webs built by M. merianae can grow to reach around 100 square centimeters in area.
