This species has the scientific name Meroles knoxii (Milne-Edwards, 1829). Adult Meroles knoxii usually reach a snout-to-vent length of 5.5 to 6.5 cm, which is 2.2 to 2.6 inches. Its ear openings are visible, and its toes are slightly fringed. The dorsal side of its body is brownish, with a pattern of stripes and spots. The ventral side ranges from bluish gray to cream in color. During the breeding season, males develop a bright yellow color on their chin, throat, and anal region. Meroles knoxii is found in Namibia and South Africa. Its preferred natural habitat is shrubland. Meroles knoxii reproduces by laying eggs, meaning it is oviparous.
