About Mermitelocerus schmidtii (Fieber, 1836)
Mermitelocerus schmidtii (Fieber, 1836) is a small true bug species. Adults of this species reach a body length of 7.3–8 millimetres, or 0.29–0.31 inches. The body is primarily green, marked with black longitudinal patterns on the hemielytra. The head is green and has two black stripes. The pronotum is light green, with two black dots, a horizontal black stripe across its width, and a black spot on each side. The scutellum has a black central line and a black outer border. The wing membrane is dark, with light green veins. Most of the legs are green, but the upper thigh segments are partially orange. This species occurs across most of Europe, including Austria, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Luxembourg, Republic of Moldova, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Netherlands and Ukraine. It can also be found in the Caucasus and Central Asia. It lives in forest edges and bright open areas.
