About Mentzelia micrantha (Hook. & Arn.) Torr. & A.Gray

Mentzelia micrantha (Hook. & Arn.) Torr. & A.Gray is an annual herb that grows an erect green stem, reaching a maximum height of 10 to 80 centimeters. Its leaves have toothed or wavy edges. The longest leaves grow in a basal rosette, reaching up to 18 centimeters long, while leaves positioned higher on the stem are smaller in size. The inflorescence is an open arrangement made up of several clusters of small flowers. Each flower is accompanied by a single wide bract that is sometimes larger than the flower itself. Each flower has five yellow petals that are less than half a centimeter long. The fruit is a narrow cylindrical utricle that holds several tiny, pyramidal seeds.
