About Mentzelia dispersa S.Watson

Mentzelia dispersa S.Watson is an annual herb that grows an erect stem reaching a maximum height of nearly half a meter. Its leaves are divided into lobes and have toothed edges. The longest leaves grow in a basal rosette, approaching 10 centimeters in length, while leaves positioned higher on the stem are smaller in size. The lightly hairy inflorescence forms an open cluster of flowers. Each flower has five small, shiny yellow petals that are only a few millimeters long. The fruit this plant produces is a narrow utricle that may be straight or curved, growing up to 2.5 centimeters long, and it contains many tiny angular seeds.
