About Mentzelia aspera L.

Mentzelia aspera, commonly known as tropical blazingstar, is a flowering plant species belonging to the family Loasaceae. It is native to subtropical and tropical regions of the New World, with a native range extending from Arizona in North America to northwestern Argentina in South America. The species has also been introduced to Cape Verde. This annual plant grows to a height of up to 75 centimetres (30 inches). It can be found in a wide variety of habitats, including desert scrublands and grasslands, as well as riverine environments such as arroyos and canyon bottoms. It often grows alongside cottonwoods and willows in these areas.
