Membracis mexicana is a treehopper species that belongs to the family Membracidae. Its distribution ranges from California in North America south to Colombia and Ecuador in South America. Adult individuals of this species have a black body marked with yellow patches. Nymphs of Membracis mexicana are black when they first hatch, and later develop a white body with three black dots and a reddish band that divides the thorax and abdomen. Adult Membracis mexicana are classified as minor pests of avocado crops.
