About Melicytus dentatus (R.Br. ex DC.) Molloy & Mabb.
Melicytus dentatus, commonly known as the tree violet, is a shrub native to south-east Australia. It can grow up to 4 metres tall. Its branchlets are often armed with spines, and bear leaves 5 to 50 mm long that are sometimes toothed. Flowers develop in spring and summer; they are pale yellow, 3 to 5 mm in length, and have petals that curve backwards at their tips. After flowering, the plant produces rounded berries 4 to 5 mm in diameter that range in colour from pale green to purple-black. These berries are eaten by Cunningham's spiny-tailed skinks. This species is found in the Australian states of New South Wales, Victoria, Tasmania, and South Australia.
