Megapodius reinwardt Dumont, 1823 is a terrestrial bird that is roughly the size of a domestic chicken. It has dark-colored plumage, sturdy bright orange legs, and a pointed crest on the back of its head. This species occupies a variety of forest and scrub habitats, and has successfully colonized many small islands across its distribution range. It is commonly found in large numbers in suburban gardens located in Darwin, Australia, where local people call it by several common names: bush chook, bush chicken, bush turkey, and most frequently, the bush boiby.
