About Meganola brunellus (Hampson, 1893)
This species has a wingspan of 21 mm. The head and thorax are white, lightly sprinkled with black, with a black band on the collar. The abdomen is brownish white. Forewings are suffused with pale brown and sprinkled with black, and feature series of oblique black specks: an antemedial series and a postmedial series. A marginal series of specks is also visible, along with faint traces of a pale submarginal line. The brown suffusion is much darker on the costa before the postmedial specks and on the margin, and this darkening is more prominent in some specimens than others. Hindwings are either white or ochreous. In ecology, the larvae of Meganola brunellus feed on species in the genus Melastoma, including Melastoma candidum, and the species occurs around forests or domestic areas.
