About Medinilla cumingii Naudin

Medinilla cumingii Naudin, commonly known as the chandelier tree, is a flowering plant species belonging to the family Melastomataceae. It is native to mossy forests of the Philippines, where it grows at altitudes between 700 and 1,000 m (2,300โ€“3,300 ft). This species is a small shrub that reaches 1โ€“2 m (3.3โ€“6.6 ft) in height. It produces leaves arranged in sets of three or four, and many-flowered hanging panicles that can grow up to 25 cm (9.8 in) long. Its ripe fruits measure 5โ€“7 mm in diameter, and range in color from pink to purplish to bluish-black.
