About Marpesia eleuchea (Hübner, 1818)
Marpesia eleuchea, commonly known as the Antillean daggerwing, is a butterfly species belonging to the family Nymphalidae. Its primary range is the West Indies, and occasional stray individuals have been recorded in the Florida Keys. The wingspan of adult Antillean daggerwings measures between 67 and 83 mm. Adult butterflies feed on nectar from a variety of flowering plant species, including species of the genera Tournefortia, Cordia, Lantana, and Eupatorium. Larvae of this species feed on plant species from the genus Ficus.
