About Marmorana serpentina (A.Férussac, 1821)

Marmorana serpentina, originally described by A. Férussac in 1821, is a species of air-breathing land snail. It is a terrestrial pulmonate gastropod mollusc that belongs to the family Helicidae. Seven recognized subspecies of Marmorana serpentina are: Marmorana serpentina carae (Cantraine, 1840), Marmorana serpentina circeja (Kobelt, 1903), Marmorana serpentina hospitans (Rossmässler, 1836), Marmorana serpentina isarae (Paulucci, 1882), Marmorana serpentina isilensis (L. Pfeiffer, 1848), Marmorana serpentina jaspidaeae (Moquin-Tandon, 1855), and Marmorana serpentina serpentina (A. Férussac, 1821). This snail species is distributed in the Alghero area of western Sardinia, and also occurs in Corsica.
