Similar larvae that share identical habits have been recorded in Colombia, Cuba, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, Peru and Venezuela; these records may also correspond to Marmara opuntiella. The larvae of this moth feed on plant species from the genera Nopalea and Opuntia. They create mines inside the leaves of their host plants.
