About Maratus nigromaculatus (Keyserling, 1883)

Maratus nigromaculatus is a species of peacock spider belonging to the genus Maratus. It is an Australian jumping spider, a member of the jumping spider family. In 1883, Keyserling formally described this species under the original name Ergane nigromaculata, based on a specimen collected from Rockhampton. This spider is found in Queensland, Australia. Its species name comes from the Latin words niger, meaning "black", and maculatus, meaning "spotted".
