About Marasmius capillaris Morgan
Marasmius capillaris Morgan is a species of agaric fungus belonging to the family Marasmiaceae. It is a saprobic fungus that produces fruit bodies (mushrooms) which grow in groups on decaying oak leaves in North America. The mushroom caps are initially convex, then become centrally depressed, and feature radial furrows; they measure 2โ15 mm (0.08โ0.6 in) in diameter. The stems are wiry, shiny, and very thin (less than 1 mm thick), reaching up to 60 mm (2.4 in) in length. This fungus produces a white spore print, and its spores are smooth, pip-shaped, and measure 7โ11 by 3โ5 ฮผm. The mushrooms of Marasmius capillaris are somewhat similar in appearance to Marasmius rotula, but are smaller and darker in color.
