The green-backed twinspot, also called the green twinspot, has the scientific name Mandingoa nitidula and belongs to the estrildid finch family. This species is found across many regions of Sub-Saharan Africa, and the IUCN has classified it as a species of least concern. It inhabits tropical lowland moist forests, and can also occur in grassland and shrubland habitats. Males can be distinguished from females by their bright red facial feathers. Females have an olive-green face and a darker, almost black, beak.
