About Malacoctenus macropus (Poey, 1868)

Malacoctenus macropus, commonly known as the Rosy blenny, is a species of labrisomid blenny. It is native to the Atlantic Ocean, including the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean Sea, with a range that extends from southern Florida and the Bahamas to the northern coast of South America. This species lives in a wide variety of habitats, including patch reefs, seagrass beds, and sponge beds. It can be found at depths from near the surface down to 8 metres (26 feet), though it is only rarely found deeper than 2 metres (6.6 feet). This species can grow to a total length of 5.5 centimetres (2.2 inches). It is also available in the aquarium trade.
