About Maireana enchylaenoides (F.Muell.) Paul G.Wilson
Maireana enchylaenoides is a low-lying or weakly erect perennial plant, growing to a maximum height of 30 cm (12 in). Its branches reach around 30 cm (12 in) in length and are covered in soft hairs. The species has linear to narrowly egg-shaped leaves that are 5–20 mm (0.20–0.79 in) long, and covered with soft or silky hairs. Flowers are bisexual and occur individually in leaf axils. The fruiting perianth is thin-walled, approximately 3 mm (0.12 in) in diameter, and bears 5 leathery wings around 4 mm (0.16 in) in diameter. This species most commonly grows in woodland habitats with loamy soils. It occurs in southern Queensland, on the slopes and plains of New South Wales, in north-western Victoria, in southern South Australia, and in the Avon Wheatbelt, Esperance Plains, Jarrah Forest and Mallee bioregions of south-western Western Australia.
