About Maiestas dorsalis (Motschulsky, 1859)
Maiestas dorsalis is a species of leafhopper belonging to the Cicadellidae family. It is commonly known as the "zig-zag leafhopper" and acts as a rice pest. This species occurs in India, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, the island of Borneo, Taiwan, and Henan Province, China. It was formerly classified in the genus Recilia, so most existing information about this species as a rice pest is published under the synonym Recilia dorsalis. A 2009 taxonomic revision moved the species to the genus Maiestas.
