About Magnolia denudata Desr.

Magnolia denudata Desr. is a relatively short tree with a rounded form, thick branching, and coarse texture, growing up to 30 feet (9.1 m) tall. Its leaves are ovate, bright green, measuring 15 cm in length and 8 cm in width. The tree's bark is coarse and dark gray. Its white flowers, which are 10–16 cm across, bloom from early to late spring. The blooms are attractive, thick, and carry a citrus-lemon fragrance, but they develop brown discoloration easily if exposed to frost.

In cultivation, Magnolia denudata is grown as an ornamental tree for gardens. Like other magnolia species, it prefers rich, moist soil, and should be planted in a spot protected from extreme environmental conditions. This plant has been awarded the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit.
