About Maculabatis gerrardi (Gray, 1851)
Maculabatis gerrardi, commonly known as the whitespotted whipray or sharpnose stingray, is a species of stingray that belongs to the family Dasyatidae. It inhabits coastal areas including estuaries across the Indo-Pacific, and has also been recorded in the Ganges River. This species reaches a maximum disc width of 2 meters, or 6.6 feet. Based on its current taxonomic classification, Maculabatis gerrardi is most likely a species complex.
