About Macrozamia fraseri Miq.

Macrozamia fraseri Miq. is a cycad species with highly variable growth forms, ranging from low-trunked cycads to upright trees. It is a slow-growing, perennial, evergreen, and dioecious cycad, typical of the cycad group. Its leaves are dull and distinctly keeled, with medium or small leaflets. For a cycad, its trunk is thick, reaching up to 105 cm (41 in) in diameter; old individuals can have trunks over one metre in height, with surfaces marked by burns from past bush fires. This species grows on sand in low heath habitats that do not contain jarrah (Eucalyptus marginata). Macrozamia fraseri contains toxic glycosides called cycasins.
