About Macrosiphum lilii (Monell, 1880)

Macrosiphum lilii, commonly called the purple-spotted lily aphid, is a species of insect that belongs to the family Aphididae. This aphid feeds on phloem, the nutrient-rich sap found inside plants. Both nymphs and adult individuals of M. lilii use their mouthparts to pierce the outer tissue of plants, most commonly plant leaves, to access the phloem inside for feeding.
