About Macrosiphum albifrons Essig, 1911

Macrosiphum albifrons, commonly known as the lupin aphid, is a species of large grey-green aphid belonging to the family Aphididae. It is native to North America. It was first reported in the United Kingdom in 1981, and now occurs widely across the UK. Infestations of this aphid cause lupin plants to wilt and collapse. This damage is thought to occur because the aphid has no natural predators in the UK, so its populations can grow without being checked.
