About Macrosaccus robiniella (Clemens, 1859)

Adult Macrosaccus robiniella have a wingspan ranging from 5.5 to 6.5 mm. This species produces two to three generations each year. The species is native to North America, where it is widely distributed. It is an introduced species in Europe. It was first recorded in Europe near Basel, Switzerland in 1983. Later records of the species in Europe include France, Germany, northern Italy (1988), Austria (1989), and Slovakia (1992). It gradually spread through Austria, and reached Hungary by the mid 1990s.
