About Macrocypraea cervinetta (Kiener, 1844)
The shells of Macrocypraea cervinetta reach a length of approximately 40โ110 millimetres (1.6โ4.3 inches), with a width of around 15โ50 millimetres (0.59โ1.97 inches). This cowry has an elongated shell shape. Its base body color is light brown, with small whitish ocellated spots on the dorsum and dark brown apertural teeth. The dorsum also features a few lighter transverse bands and a single longitudinal line. This species is found in the Eastern Pacific Ocean, ranging from the Gulf of California to Peru, and it also occurs in the Galapagos Islands. It is most commonly found at low tide, underneath corals and rocks.
