Macrocilix maia is a moth belonging to the Drepanidae family. It was first described by John Henry Leech in 1888. This species can be found in India, Japan, Taiwan, Korea, China, Peninsular Malaysia, Sumatra, and Borneo. Adult individuals of this moth have been recorded in the month of May. The larvae of Macrocilix maia feed on the leaves of Quercus variabilis. The moth’s wings display two symmetrical patterns that look like flies feeding on bird droppings, and this species also produces a pungent odor.
