About Macrochilo louisiana Forbes, 1922
Macrochilo louisiana, commonly called the Louisiana macrochilo or Louisiana snout-moth, is a litter moth belonging to the family Erebidae. This species was first formally described by William Trowbridge Merrifield Forbes in 1922. It is distributed in North America, ranging from Quebec and Maine in the east, south to Florida, west to Texas, and north to Alberta. Its wingspan measures 20 to 27 mm. In the northern part of its range, adult moths are active from June to September; in the southern part, adults can be seen as early as February.
